Re2005 Sagittario (Archer) Italian fighter, called by some (though mostly Italians) to have been the best fighter of the war. However since the Re2005 saw only very limited service, the world will never know.

The Reggiane Re.2005 "Sagittario"
The Reggiane Re.2005 "Sagittario" was the last fighter designed by the Caproni-Reggiane industries for the italian Regia Areonautica, defined by many pilots "The best fighter of World War Two" was able to see some action only in the late years of the war.
The Re.2005 entered active service in 1943, flown by the 362nd Fighter Squadron, 22nd group, based at Naples-Capodichino. Then the squadron transfered in Sicily at the time of the Allied landing and at the end parecipated at the defence of Southern Italy from the base of Capua.
